Veteran Jay Kimura affixes a plaque on the Freedom Shrine during the Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawaii shrine dedication ceremony Sept. 10 at the Hawaii County Building. There are other local installations — in the state building in Hilo and at Hilo High School. ”We tend to forget about all of our freedoms, all the sacrifices people have made,” Aloha Exchange Club president Curtis Chong said. “The installations are a way to jog that memory.”
